Jonathan Davis, a retired chiropractor in Florida, was arrested for stalking
and taping little girls. He approached children in Ross and K-Mart in
Hollywood and in Burlington Coat Factory in Hialeah. Police say he often
made a “pssst” sound to get kids’ attention. He would
scratch his privates and say he was “itchy.” He talked to
the children, often in inappropriate ways. He tried, unsuccessfully, to
get some children to go with him to another part of the store. While he
did all this, he recorded the children on his cell phone camera.
Parents were often near the children as this occurred. Some were holding
their daughters’ hands or standing within 5 feet of their kids.
If a parent approached while Davis was talking to a child, he would lift
his cell phone and pretend to talk on it.
Earlier this month, Davis was arrested for
committing a lewd act at the K-Mart. He was out on bail soon after that.
On Friday, May 18, he turned himself in and was rearrested on the new charge
of “Aggravated Stalking of a Minor Under 16.” He again got
bail and was released.
Most of the subjects of Davis’ attention were girls under 12 years
old. One was 15, but the youngest was only 5.
Hialeah Detective Felix Mendigutia said, “This is a guy who is brazen.
He’s fearless. He’s not afraid to get caught.”
